Dream Gear drone rental terms

These terms apply to all drone rentals and sit alongside Dream Gear's standard rental terms.

  1. Security deposit. A refundable security deposit of $250 is payable on every drone rental, in addition to the rental charge. It is refunded in full once the drone and all accessories are returned in the same condition they were supplied in, as recorded at handover.
  2. Damage costing up to the deposit. If the drone is returned damaged and the repair costs less than the deposit, Dream Gear will arrange the repair, deduct the cost from the deposit, and refund the balance.
  3. Damage costing more than the deposit. If the repair costs more than the deposit, the renter is liable for the full repair cost. The deposit is applied to that cost and the renter pays the difference. Liability for repair is capped at $1,000, the replacement value of the drone.
  4. Total loss, theft, or non-return. If the drone is lost, stolen, not returned, or damaged beyond economic repair, the renter is liable for its replacement value of $1,000. The deposit is applied to this amount and the renter pays the difference.
  5. Condition and assessment. Dream Gear records the condition of the drone and accessories at handover and on return, and determines whether damage has occurred and the cost of any repair or replacement, acting reasonably.
  6. Lawful and safe use. The renter is responsible for operating the drone lawfully and safely, including compliance with all Civil Aviation Authority rules, airspace and no-fly-zone restrictions, privacy law, and any local regulations, and for holding any certification their intended use requires.
  7. Liability. The renter uses the drone at their own risk. To the extent permitted by law, Dream Gear is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, fine, or claim arising from the renter's use of the drone, including harm to third parties or their property, or any consequence of unlawful, unsafe, or inappropriate operation.
